We present an exhibition of Bath, its people, places and stuff taken with mobile phones. Ever since Bath became popular as a spa in the 18th century, artists, illustrators and later photographers have tried to capture the city, its architecture, landscape and people. These images often became treasured memories for visitors, carried around the world.
Today the mobile phone has vastly increased the opportunities to instantly capture, keep and transmit images of the city anywhere. The exhibition explores what stuff in Bath people now choose to capture and take away with their phones, and the reasons for their choices.
The exhibition will be shown at four venues around the city on plasma screens, and viewers will be encouraged to visit the sites to see different aspects of mobile stuff around Bath: Visitor Stuff, Young People’s Stuff, Art Stuff and Residents’ Stuff.
